Pebble Coin (XPB) Reviews & Critics

A nice 'hot dance' side recorded in New York, February1925. Jelly-Roll Morton's fine composition 'King Porter Stomp'. Originally on U.S. Columbia 372-D, ....

  • Good to hear that and see your machine. Made me go looking for my 'Hannan Dance Band' records. Hmm 'Eat More Fruit' - not a Jelly Roll Morton tune.
  • Superb recording and a great sounding Columbia gramophone. I also enjoy the preamble very much. As 6dBperOctave puts it: "inform, educate and entertain". Thanks for sharing!
  • Inform, educate and entertain . . . your posts always hit all buttons and make fascinating viewing. Much appreciated.Given that the wavelength in air for a 2 kHz vibration is about 6 inches (far in excess of tone arm dimensions) I'm left pondering about the sound propagation down the arm. Plano-reflex sounds like good marketing. These days they'd just stick an e- or i-prefix!
  • I have a No.9 on my Columbia 109a, and it sounds superb with my portable...it sounds amazing on your horn machine!
